Before you read any further: This is a project car! If you do not have skills in welding and repairing rust, this is not the car for you! This beautiful car has deteriorated to a very bad state and the floor is very rusty. The car starts, runs and stops, and it was through a technical inspection here in Sweden 2010. It is an American import and it came to Sweden in 1988. Pictures from underneath available on request.

 

For sale: W113 Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda 1971

This classic Mercedes came from California to Scandinavia in 1997. It has recieved a light restoration here with a new paint, new chrome details, and new leather on the seats. Still, the original floor mats in good condition, a classic radio from Becker and the original hardtop with the car. Since it is an American car, the odometer is in miles.

Some of the most recent works: A new battery in Feb 2012, 2011-09 -- New exhaust pipes in the front, manifold gaskets, and new gearbox mount. Parts and labour 3000€. 2001-03-11 -- There were expenses of 800€ in wheel alignment, adjusting valves, Bosch system test, vacum tubes, new fuel lines, choke adjusted, and fuel filter. 2007 -- New seat cushions and new leather on the seats and K&N airfilter. There has been only one owner here in Scandinavia since 2007. We do not have any history from America on the car.  All gaps are very good and the doors shut perfectly. Both hardtop and softtop are in exellent condition. Good Michelin tyres with a thin white stripe that can be turned inwards if you prefer to have them black. There is no sign of any welding repairs done to the car and the body is very solid.

We are located all the way south in Sweden (Malmö) and we could conveniently pick you up from Copenhagen Airport. We are only 15 minutes away from the ferry to Germany if you would like to drive the car home. Otherwise, transport can be arranged at a very reasonable price (e.g. Frankfurt 600€).

A Mercedes 190SL in red with beige interior. All in a very nice shape! Had a full restoration by Mercedes specialist some years ago and still looks very nice. Recently the brakes in the rear have been looked over with new gaskets and shoes. We just had it inspected and approved by the Swedish Road Ministry (TUF). This car feels very solid and is a joy to drive. Compared to other 190SL cars we have driven in the past this one feels like new. There is also a new fuel tank, a fuel reserve switch and a newly renovated carburators. The car was imported from Germany in 1987 and had 2 users in Sweden. This is a must see car!

Der Mercedes-Benz 190 SL basiert technisch auf der Limousine der Baureihe W 120/W 121 („Ponton-Modell“). Zur Unterscheidung vom Pontonmodell 190 wurde der Werkscode W 121 um den Zusatz B II (= Baureihe II) ergänzt, sodass die korrekte interne Bezeichnung W 121 B II lautet. In Anlehnung an die spätere Kennzeichnung der SL-Modelle mit dem Kürzel R (für Roadster, ab Baureihe 107) wird der 190 SL gelegentlich aber auch als R 121 bezeichnet. Der 190 SL war ausschließlich mit einem 1,9-Liter-Ottomotor erhältlich. Dieser war eine eigenständige Entwicklung (M 121 B II) und leiste mit 105 PS mehr als der gleichgroße Limousinenmotor.

1953 gab es erste Studien einer zwei- bzw. viersitzigen Variante des 180er Pontonmodells, deren Karosserien weitgehend der Limousine entsprachen, aber zugunsten eines Entwurfes von Walter Häcker und Hermann Ahrens verworfen wurden. Der 190 SL sollte nahe an seinen „großen Bruder“, den 300 SL Flügeltürer, heranrücken. Die Fahrleistungen waren allerdings erheblich geringer (105 PS gegenüber 215 PS). Daimler-Benz bezeichnete den 190 SL deshalb in den Prospekten als „Touren-Sportwagen“.

Das Nebeneinander von zwei unterschiedlichen SL-Baureihen war einmalig in der Geschichte von Mercedes-Benz. Erst seit der Einführung der SLK-Baureihe gibt es wieder zwei unterschiedliche Roadster-Modelle, weshalb der 190 SL mitunter als Vorgänger des SLK angesehen wird.

Production was between 1962–1965 300 SE Coupé (2,419 built). Burgundy leather in very good condition. AC is ice cold. Everything in this car works!
